Terrorism is a substantial threat in the world today. Terrorism activity can happen anywhere at any time. Law enforcement officers need to be at the ready to battle this constant threat to communities. The ISLES provides the essential counter terrorism training needed in today's society. Covering a broad spectrum of counter terrorism training from domestic terrorism, extremist groups, weapons of mass destruction, decontamination, terrorism alert systems, suicide bombers and critical incident management ISLES has officers covered with real-world situational video.

This is an exciting program which is multi-disciplinary in both its approach and content. This programme has been designed to encourage students to understand the nature of security and terrorism from military, legal, political, scientific and sociological perspectives. This training facilitates the participant: to understand the definition of the term 'Terrorism' and 'Terrorist'; understand the history of terrorism and its affects; to understand what is an Improvised Explosive Device; to distinguish the different types of explosive devices and methods that terrorists employ; to understand the ways in which a law enforcement officer can identify members of an extremist group; to understand the behaviour that may identify a potential suicide bomber; the conceptual differences between international, transnational, domestic and state terrorism; to recognise hostile reconnaissance; to conduct searches, evacuation and suspect packages;
