Leading a police station or a policing division is an intricate business for the untalented and unskilled. It involves maintaining the general peace and tranquillity of the society; proactive policing; collecting information and intelligence on criminals and crimes; engaging with local community leaders; helping the communities in need; partaking in community and social activities; being an ambassador of peace, harmony, human rights and social justice; and being responsible for the welfare of the community, the staff working under you.

As the name suggests the Atoll Commanders Course is especially tailored for future atoll and division commanders of Maldives Police Service.
